Cybermage’s Monthly Journal January 2011

Welcome to Cybermage and the first monthly journal of 2011.

The year started as it should on the first of January and the first nine days was a blissful holiday, blogging is not work – right? I Closed the Books on 2010 and picked the Best Books of the Year as is customary. Then I took a break and read The Magician’s Apprentice by Trudi Canavan my first read of the new year, decade even. It is one of Trudi’s best novels so far and a good place to start with her works as it is a standalone prequel to The Black Magician and The Traitor Trilogies.  This year’s first watch was ITV’s new Primeval Series 4. It was entertaining but not very original, they do know characters though.

I made some resolutions for the new year as well (more general guidelines, really) to pace myself, quality before quantity and to write a short story. This has resulted in a bit fewer posts since I no longer aim at one post every day but I think it will produce a more interesting result in the long run. What do you think so far?

The New SF&F to Read 2011 post took most of a week to make so I hope you enjoy it.

Later this month I have gotten involved in a home improvement project of the electronic kind so I have been mainly listening to audiobooks. Happiness is reading a meter.
