Glee is more than Joy!

Glee is one of the best new series that came 2009. I never heard of a Glee club, have you? The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language says:

glee [gliː]
1. great merriment or delight, often caused by someone else’s misfortune
2. (Music, other) a type of song originating in 18th-century England, sung by three or more unaccompanied voices Compare madrigal
[Old English gléo; related to Old Norse glȳ]

Glee is a heartwarming show about a high school show choir (glee club) and their way to success. I was skeptic when I first heard about it, didn’t sound like my kind of show.   But now I am glad I checked it out. The the young cast is talented even if one might say the casting is a bit stereotypical. You have the hot cheerleaders, the jocks, kid in a wheelchair, Asians, a teen pregnancy, a gay kid, fat girl, so on and so forth. But it works great. The musical performances makes this show. Have a napkin handy, your eyes will tear up.

One of my favorites in the show is Jane Lynch. She plays the reactionary-kick-ass-former-military-coach-of-the cheerleading-squad Sue Sylvester, Glee Club’s arch enemy. Her in-show TV appearances have to be seen to be believed.

There is drama but without the dark angst of many other teen shows. It is full-throttle fun. Nothing to feel guilty over watching this. If you haven’t seen it you should. Glee will warm your heart.
