Monthly Journal July 2010

I thought June went by fast, that’s nothing compared to July. This is the last day of my five week vacation, it has been great to be off work for a while but it will be nice to get back to work now. I planned to read a bit more but managed 17 books read and 16 reviews written which is about the same amount as last month.

I learned to know many promising new-to-me authors this month the Kollins, John Meaney, Gary Gibson, Gavin Smith, Ashanti Luke and Chris Wooding. Retribution FallsVeteran and Absorption are among the best new books from new-to-me authors I read this year. I am a great David Weber fan so reading Mission of Honor was the highlight of the month.

I read the Hugo voting package but I have to face the fact that I will not be able to achieve my goal to read this summer 16 of 46 down.

I must have been doing something right this month since traffic increased 126%! The Internet gods can be erratic and some of the traffic is due to an unnatural interest in Mt Inostranka (the holding facility in The Event). My series Formidable Female Protagonists in Science Fiction received 3.250 hits and it even got a mention in Genreville. I had a record breaking 18.045 unique visitors in July compared to 7.967 in June  and 7.925 in May. Having time off to write matters it seems.

Great thanks to all the friendly people out there.
