New & Returning TV this Week (July 12-18)

Great TV week coming up. Six decent days of watching again.

Series premiere this week for Covert Affairs (USA) about a young CIA trainee and her blind partner, Rizzoli & Isles (TNT) about two very different females that solve crimes together.

New seasons premieres are always fun, this week we have three The Closer (TNT), White Collar (USA) and Psych (USA)

Monday, July 12

Rizzoli & Isles 1.01 – See One, Do One, Teach One – Series Premiere (TNT).

RIZZOLI & ISLES follows Boston detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) and medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), complete opposites and good friends who solve crimes and bust some of Boston’s most notorious criminals. Growing up at opposite ends of the economic spectrum, the two remain strikingly different from one another in many ways. Jane, the only female detective in Boston’s homicide division, is a tough and gutsy cop who doesn’t let her guard down (except with Maura), dodges her overprotective mother and is better at basketball than her brother. Maura, meanwhile, is usually more comfortable among the dead than the living. She is always impeccably dressed in designer duds with a steady, sometimes icy temperament. And she is working on curbing her tendency to diagnose the people she meets – including her first dates. Jane and Maura often find themselves working together as both use their brilliant minds and expertise to figure out the “who done it” as well as the “how done it” of Boston’s most complex cases. Despite their many differences, Jane and Maura are best friends, with a quirky and supportive relationship.

The Closer 6.01 – The Big Bang – Season Premiere (TNT). Season 6 opens with the shooting death of a man. Among the messy complications hindering Brenda’s investigation: an affair involving the victim, a missing murder weapon and the squad’s difficult move to their new high-tech headquarters.

The Good Guys 2.07 – Small Rooms (Fox). In order to avoid another boring day at the office, Dan decides to spice up a routine auto theft investigation by secretly planting evidence from an unrelated cold case file. As a result, Jack and Dan end up in the middle of a massive gun-running ring involving a decade-old murder.

Lie To Me 2.16 – Teacher and Pupils (Fox). After the grisly shooting of an officer in a federal housing project, the D.C. police hire Lightman to read the face of the paralyzed victim, who can move only his eyes.

Tuesday, July 13

Warehouse 13 2.02 – Mild-Mannered (Syfy). A masked vigilante with an artifact is cleaning up the mean streets of Detroit. But when the very object that granted this mild-mannered samaritan his amazing super-powers threatens to destroy him and his city, it’s the dynamic duo of Lattimer and Bering who must now come to the rescue.

Covert Affairs 1.01 – Pilot – Series Premiere (USA). Good with some light summer entertainment, Mr Jake 2.0 is in it too beside Piper Perabo who I liked since Coyote Ugly in 2000. CSI-scifi expected.

In USA Networks’ newest original series, we meet Annie Walker (Piper Perabo), a young CIA trainee who is suddenly thrust into the inner sanctum of the agency after being promoted to field operative. While it appears that she has been hand-picked for her exceptional linguistic skills, it may be something from her past that her CIA bosses are really after. Christopher Gorham plays Auggie Anderson, a CIA military intelligence agent, blinded while on assignment, and Annie’s guide in this world of bureaucracy, excitement and intrigue. Peter Gallagher is Arthur Campbell, the formidable director of Clandestine Services for the CIA. Sendhil Ramamurthy plays Jai Wilcox, an agent with a rich family history within the walls of the CIA. Anne Dudek plays Danielle, a married mother of two and Annie’s older sister who knows nothing of Annie’s life as a spy. Kari Matchett plays Joan, head of the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division…and Arthur’s wife.

Memphis Beat 1.03 – Polk Salad Annie (TNT). A mysterious someone tries to kill a barbecue king. The case sizzles when Sutton goes undercover to smoke out the culprit. Meanwhile, Lt. Rice’s son turns to the wrong side of the law.

White Collar 2.01 – Withdrawal – Season 2 premiere (USA). An elusive master thief has targeted a handful of New York’s most prestigious banks, and it’s up to Peter and Neal to thwart his next heist.

Pretty Little Liars 1.06 – There’s No Place Like Homecoming (ABC). The homecoming decorating committee is knee deep in balloons, and girls are jockeying for position to be the queen, while four friends from Rosewood just try to stay afloat. Dealing with heartbreak, a boyfriend’s virginity pledge and a vengeful sister all take a backseat when one girl makes a shocking homecoming date choice that puts her in a possibly sticky situation. Will the girls be able to protect one of their own, or will the evening turn out to be a night they can never forget?

But Audrey stumbles upon another mysterious event in town, when food, fields, and even livestock around Haven all begin to die, and she joins with Nathan to investigate what the source of the epidemic could be – and what’s really happening in this extraordinary place.

Eureka 4.02 – A New World (Syfy). Carter and his fellow travelers begin to realize the startling implications of their return to Eureka — and of Dr. Grant’s unnerving appearance in their midst.

Tara considers a proposal from Franklin, who’s completed his mission for Russell; Joe Lee breaks his promise to Sam and Tommy; Lafayette learns the meaning of patience from Jesus, his mother’s orderly; Jason meets his match in a mysterious girl named Crystal. An heirloom reminds Eric of his past and his ongoing thirst for vengeance.
