Singularity Sky by Charles Stross

I finished this on the flight back from London. It’s good to be home.

Singularity Sky is an imaginative story. The spaceships of the Festival arrives at Rochard’s World and starts to drop phones down on the repressed people of The New Republic. That’s the real story.

In between The New Republic declares war on the Festival, and plans to send a fleet trough space and time to before the Festival arrives to ambush them. With them are Martin,an engineer from Earth on a covert mission and Rachel, another agent, but from United Nations. She is there as a Military Observer to make sure they don’t break any international laws. Like travel back in time. Martin and Rachel obviously attract each other. Two really likable characters.

The society Charles paint is one of the more imaginative ones I have seen lately. A good book, 4 out of 5. You should read it.
