2009 have been a year of ups and downs when it comes to TV. These have been my favorite TV past times this year. When it comes to TV I am more of an omnivore than with books.

1. True Blood
   Southern Vampires on the screen with extra spices added to make it the best tv show of the year. It is steamy, it is intense and oh so captivating. Twelve episodes is just too short, give us more Sookie!
2. Castle
   Castle is the best new TV serie of 2009. Nathan Fillion could play anything this year and still succed. Richard Castle the Crime writer fits him perfectly. The beautiful Stana Katic plays detective Kate Becket the inspiration for Richard newest hero Nicky Heat. Nice action, good pace, snappy dialogue, wonderful actors and more. Currently airing its second season and renewed for a third.
3. Fringe
   Season two focuses on the alternative universe threat. FBI agent Olvia Dunham and Peter Bishop continues their caretake of Peters enstranged father Dr Walter Bishop.  A fantastic season.
   
4. Stargate Universe
   The starship Destiny was launched by the Ancient to visit new galaxies. The research facility where the 9th cheveron’s secret is being studied is attacked and the people there have to flee using the stargate. They end up on Destiny, billions of light years from home with no way back. They are not made for this, they didn’t sign up for this. So far it has been an interesting tale about survival. The series is Currently in hiatus. Renewed for a second season by Syfy
5. Being Human
   Werewolves are despised by Vampires. But Mitchell, a vampire and George Sands, a werewolf become friends and decide to mainstream their lives being human. So they rent a house and move in. Unknown to them the house is already inhabited by Annie – a ghost. Second season will air in January 2010.
6. Eureka
   Sheriff Carter and the goofy, charmingly inventive town of Eureka makes me happy to watch. This season begins with a robot replacement for Carter, which doesn’t work out. The outer-space-invaders arc with the mind-controlled towns people was a delight. Pity Zoe left for college in the last episode, hope she’ll be back for summer.
   
7. Supernatural
   It is the end of the world, the Apocalypse is upon us, and Paris Hilton gets her head chopped off, and Sam and Dean are back together, and Lucifer is in comparison a nice guy. They planed Supernatural for an arc of five season, this is the fifth season – is it the end of the show? I hope not! It is better than ever!
   
8. Royal Pains
   When Hank is blacklisted for saving a little boy’s life instead of an important trustee and his fiancee leaves him, his unreliable little brother decides a trip to the Hamptons might be the right medicine. Hank quickly makes himself a name as a go to doctor, and the grapevine for the rich and famous there is lightning, and they all call Hank now when ill. A beautiful local MD catches his intrest so he let his brother convince him to stay. Royal Pains is a really likable feel-good series. 
   
9. White Collar
   Fresh new series about a conman Neal Caffrey blackmailed into working with the FBI. His handler is FBI Agent Peter Burke. That they brought in Wendy (Natalie Morales II)  from the Middleman was just icing on the cake. It Has just been renewed for a second season.
   
10. Warehouse 13
    Great fantasy series with the most exquisite steampunky gadgets ever. Beautiful and talented cast especially the addition of Claudia.

Special mention to SyFy channels Alice. I should also mention that I save V for when the hiatus is over. Dollhouse did catch my interest at the end but it didn’t make the list, sorry Joss. We had a few good comedy shows this year worth mentioning, Better off Ted, Cougar Town, The Big Bang Theory.

Other good shows not on the list this year: House, Legend of the Seeker, Merlin, Lie to Me, Sons of Anarchy, Trauma.

These are the best books i have read for the very first time in 2009. There was quit a few authors I discovered 2009, and many of them are already favorites. To mention some of them John Scalzi of course he is my favorite of the year, Jaine Fenn is another strong new author, Elisabeth Bear is much better than the covers of her books, Laura E. Reeve with her strong Greek influence and Tony Bellantyne with his robot series is novel to say the least. I don’t doubt for a second I have missed some of this years greatest new authors and books. I would love to read them if you tell me about them.

I must have been really focused on my work today because I totally missed their arrival (I worked from home today). But there they where on top of the desk in the hallway when i foraged out of my room for dinner. Must have been the stealthy B. that recovered them for me.

I have been waiting since summer for the next Longknife novel and now it’s here, I will read it now. I have no impulse control when it comes to books I like.

The Devil’s Eye will have to wait with the other 30 or so unread books in my night stand. I’ll get to them sooner or later.

Edit November 2009: It will not be made to a series, there have been talk of a TV film.

The new teenage comedy 10 Things I Hate About Youis supposed to be built on the movie with the same name. I wonder where they dig up those actors? I wonder how they will make a series of this even after one episode? I am bored.

Edit: I was wrong, it is quite entertaining.

According to scifiscoop.com Legend of the Seeker will return this fall with 22 new episodes. More details will be announced next week. Read the article…

Btw Legend of The Seeker is built on Terry Goodkin’s Sword of Truth book series. The book series are a lot more kinky than the TV series imho. The TV series are filmed in New Zealand by the same talented crew that made Hercules and Xena.

New Zealand is one country i really would like to visit before I die. It seems so breathtakingly beautiful.

Oh, Brenda is such a hard ass interrogator, love that about the show. This season seems a bit more human and less smooth in a good way.

Being Human [*****]
This is a good season finale with a victory over the villain and enough hints on what will go down in the next season. It felt so good when George and especially Annie kicked Vampire ass. I love that cast.

Bones [***]
This crossover cartoon thing was not my favorite. The episode was not a total loss though it felt a little like a series finale, with all the actors getting together.

Dollhouse [****]
This is a nice season finale, some closure and some interesting new doors opening for the next season. Alpha going down was a significant victory.

Fringe [*****]
Another good season final. The World Trade Center cityscape at the end was worth a 5 by itself.

Grey’s Anatomy [*****]
Episode 22 was a good season ending. The Final Episodes were better. Izzie’s cancer friend was a really good resurface of a familiar face from Gilmore Girls. George joins the Army, get mauled by a bus and keeps coding on the table at the end of the season, and will be leaving the show according to E! Meredith’s and Derek’s ceremony were very emotional. Izzy was also coding and will be back according to recent rumors.

Kings [****] Series Finale
The uprising and the movers behind it creates a lot of openings for intrigue and David Shepherd’s (the hero) trust in King Silas and his unlucky love affair with Princess Michelle is in a way a good final episode. That said, Kings deserve not to be ended, but it is ended.

NCIS [****]
This is a really good season finale, with a nice cliffhanger in the best tradition of NCIS. It is not a 5/5 because they didn’t really work on a criminal case. Ziba in that chair in the final scene really makes me want the next season now.

Private Practice [**]
Why? Why do they have to make a season finale for Criminal Minds? It is a total break with the usual ambiance. At the start of the season I just loved the show, now my interest is lowest???

The Mentalist [****]
The Red John season finale was awesome, and he is still out there for the next season.

The Unit [****]
Stopping a nuke is good enough closure in my opinion, finding out who was behind it all was also good.

According to Wikipedia a glee club is a musical group, historically of men but also of just women or mixed voices, which traditionally specializes in the singing of short songs — glees — by trios or quartets.

A young Spanish teacher really burns for the glee club. He stops at nothing to get it running even planting pot and blackmailing his pupils to join. He is not a bad guy. Quite the contrary.

He has some problems with his shopaholic wife at the same time.

There is also a hot female teacher in the mix that really roots for him. I see drama in the future…

It’s lighthearted and full of energy, hope they don’t get bogged down in drama.

But remember Glee is also malicious satisfaction (Gloat) which I am sure isn’t unintended by the writers.

Looks definitely spiffy.

SciFi Wire reports that FOX renewed Fringe for a second season of 22 episodes today. Yeah!

Hollywood Reporter and Variety, two of the industries biggest papers, report that sign point towards a 3rd season pick up for my beloved Chuck.

We won’t know for sure until Monday when NBC release their Fall schedule.

• Captain Cook’s Extraordinary Atlas (ABC) A 13 year old girl named Gwen discover a magical atlas to a fantastical world.
• Day One (NBC) Life after a ‘world event’ destroys most of earth’s infrastructure. Ordered in May
• Defying Gravity (FOX) 8 astronauts living on an international spacecraft while the world watches. Oh No a scripted reality series in space! Canceled after 8 episodes?
• Eastwick (ABC) A TV take of The Witches of Eastwick. Sexy witches living with the devil? Ordered 18th of May Edit: Canceled in 2009 before it finished
• Flash forward (ABC) For 2 minutes and 17 seconds the worlds population blacks out and have strange visions about their future. A FBI agent tries to find the truth. Sounds interesting but doesen’t sound mainstream.Ordered 18th of May
• Human Target (CW) Dude hire himself out as a target to threatened people. Ordered 13th of May
• Masterwork (CW) MI5 agent and FBI agent travel the world retrieving artifacts. Edit

I would also like to see a new Elizabeth Moon science fiction book or two. But she only releases a book every other year or so. And she seems bent on fantasy at the moment.
