Last Week

It all started with Jo Lupo nude in the shower. In Momstrosity the guys went camping but left Henry home to tell his wife the truth about them being from an alternative timeline. Carter and Grant had a fight about Alison until the attack of the robotic Ant but the poor huge thing was only looking for Emo. Review recap here.

This Week

Zoe is back in town walking with her dad and did I just see her giving Zane the look? She looks grown up, more of a young woman than before. Alison is at the cafe with Grant and the baby when Zoe and Jack walk in. Carter is obviously disturbed and when Jo Lupo joins them the friendly banter about relationships reaches new heights. Zoe and Jo are planning a spa date later, wonder if Zane is going to come up? Zoe tells she met this Funny, Smart and Hot guy. He is a little older is such a giveaway.

Carter finally asks Alison out, but she might have gotten another impression.

Why did it take me four years to do that? (Carter)

Your house is getting more action than either of us (Jo Lupo)

Construction of Jo’s new house has been put to a halt by a guy named Derek who has found fossils on the site. This might be more interesting than I thought. Zoe seems to know this guy; maybe I am wrong about the target of her affection. Carter immediately picks up on it. “Derek?” “He is a genius”. We all follow Jo there in anticipation of her setting him straight, but he is already struck to a Flash-Crete wall, maybe with some help by the contractor pushing him there. It is for moments like this I watch Eureka, that and the funny dialog.

Let’s get Indiana Jones here out of the wall. Do you have a chisel? (Carter)

Jo-Jo seems more upset with the state of her unbuilt house, the one with the Dojo and the fire range in the basement. She is such a special lady our Jo-Jo. Is this the day of the love triangles? Zoe jumps on Derek’s new find. “I would love to see it”. Lupo is interrupted by a 911 from Fargo and has to leave. Someone has been snooping around Trevor Grant’s false file. Fargo seems close to panic.

We violated time travel protocols. They are going to lock us up as lab rats. Forever. (Fargo)

They decide they need to hack the system to find out its source. “But that would be like trying to hack the Matrix”, says Fargo. “We need ‘the One’, Jo replies and leaves. Meanwhile back home Zoe is planning an outing with Derek after Jo canceled their spa date.

Do you really want to hang with Mr ‘I found a pinky’? (Carter)

But Zoe forgot her bag at the dig site and Jack drives her there and they find Derek turned to stone. That is the mystery of  the week. Carter’s date with Alison doesn’t turn out the way he expected. Zoe goes back to the dig to finish with the find, because that’s what he would have wanted. As I suspected Alison didn’t expect a real date with Carter, but then they find heartbeat from the statue.

Henry is having a date with Grace but it turns out it is the same date his alt had with her. He needs to come up with something original.

All of a sudden a crazy selling spa lady appears in GD and my first thought is, is she behind the flash-crete? The dissolvent doesn’t work on Derek; instead the stone casing is getting stronger. Alison decides to have a go with a laser cutter but discovers the skin IS concrete.

The One is Zane of course. He is his usual obnoxious self. He even has the audacity to challenge them to a bit of blackmail before he helps them. Fargo pays up but Jo-Jo is appalled.

Carter ends up in a warehouse where he finds a few more living statues. Doctor Zimer (the contractor) has also been turned into stone in the jail. Back at GD creepy spa lady is there, she must have caused this somehow. Carter goes after Derek instead. But he might be right and I wrong. He finds a dead rat in Derek’s lab and accidentally drops it into a vat and it turns to stone in seconds. Zoe is disappointed. The fossil in found in Lupo’s ground was falsified. Wonder why he did that? Guess what? Jack feels sorry for Zoe and pays for a spa treatment for her.

Alison and Carter finally have a little talk about the kiss and she has a point there, she behaved like nothing happened. Alison need the compound causing the petrification and Carter goes looking. He meets Henry at the dig site with Carter. He asks Carter for dating advice! “You should ask the one you are most unlikely to ask about dating advice”. Awkward silent, “I am”.

Grace and Zoe is at the spa together and they talk about guys. Grace gets one or two inputs about Henry and it is quite obvious now that Zoe is talking about Zane.

Zane hacks the master system and discovers the IRS are the ones doing the checking. Because Larry filed  dependents on his registration form instead of one.  Later Larry delivers a care package to Grant and behaves in a rather peculiar way. Is he trying to start a bromance? The package contains a bottle of wine Grants favorite wine dated 1947 and a note asking for a meeting.

After a steam bath at the spa Zoe returns, chat up Zane but are interrupted by Carter only to discover that her hand has turned to stone. Alison succeeds in slowing the process.

Meanwhile Zane goes to Jo with suspicions about Grants. He is convinced Grant’s file is a fake. Joe brushes him off. I am sure that is a bad move, he doesn’t look like a guy that would give up.

Carter finally figures out Zoe were okay when Alison checked her before so she must have come into contact with the agent afterwards at the Spa. Said and done, they steam bath them with the antigen and saves all the afflicted, Derek included.

We are not garden stationeries any more (Zoe)

Zane visits Zoe and Jo Lupo walks in. I think I am going to be sick. Poor Lupo.

Her new guy is my old guy? (Lupo)

Henry surprises Grace with a disco session at GD’s reception with Fargo as the DJ. That was more than a little weird but a happy moment.

In a quiet part of GD Carter asks Alison about the date thing and they talk, and it looks like they are breaking up before it even started but then Carter turns back and finally, after four years Alison and Jack kisses and then some. I am happy for them but don’t expect it to be smooth traveling from now on. Check out next week’s episode, it is about ex partners.

Trevor meets with the mystery contact from IRS and it is Beverly Barlow the daughter of one of his old coworkers.

Happy news this morning. With still a few episodes to run on this fourth game changing season Syfy renews Eureka for a fifth season. I understand them perfectly. The current season has had great numbers (for Syfy) and the new time-changing storyline has revitalized the show.

Last Week

We had the crossover with Warehouse 13. Fargo and Claudiawere all alone in a minefield. They look cute together but isn’t she a bit out of his league?

This Week

This week we start with Carter, Kevin, Fargo and Grant driving away from something. They look scared and relived. “Think we lose her?” That’s when what looks like Tiny, Tess’ laser canon wielding robot jumps out and scare the shit out of them. They maneuver past and are about to escape when it cut down a tree that falls blocks the road. Beyond you can see some kind of road block so they leave the car and run for it.

Then we switch to 12 hours earlier with a. Starting with action is a good way to catch viewers I guess but I personally are not so fond of this technique, I hate to know what is going to happen. Usually this means that the story up to what is going to happen isn’t as suspenseful and interesting so it needs a boost. Anyway we continue with the prehistory back at Casa Carter and S.A.R.A.H. (There has not been much S.A.R.A.H. this season that is a pity)

I don’t mind a nude Jo Lupo in the shower but I was sort of expecting Carter with some witty-ism. Instead we get a stalker scene. Someone is spying on Lupo, and it gets closer and closer. The sound of the doors open makes Jo turn around. Nobody’s there. She looks down. There is Wall-E’s little buddy. She picks it up and storms out with a bathrobe on. Carter!

I just found this perverted little toaster spying on me in the shower.

What’s this? It is Kevin’s homework assignment, the Emo is Eureka’s version of carrying an egg around showing you know how to be a parent. Jo is indignant, it got video of me taking a shower, get rid of it. I find I have to go back and view the shower scene again, in case I missed something. I still think Jo and Carter would be a wonderful couple.

Carter leaves with the Emo for a talk with Alison. He meets Robot assistant Andy on his way out. He got a call from there, Carter sends him to Jo and she is just upset with robots and leave to dress. Andy is confused so S.A.R.A.H. offers to link him to the GD mainframe for a diagnostics. He is behaving a bit weird, like he is feeling her up or so. Is this Emo thing affecting all the robots in Eureka?

Carter suggests he should talk to Kevin about this and invite him on the camping trip he, Henry and Fargo have been planning. Alison agrees. While they talk the Emo disappears again. It wanders around GD looking charming. That looks like an interesting lab. Henry decides he need to help Grace with her project, can’t they take Grant instead? Emo meets giant ant robot …

Henry tells Grace the truth and she doesn’t take it well. When Henry tries to follow her he is electrocuted by the headset to treat Alzheimer they have been working on. When he comes around Jo and Grace are there. Jo got a call about a security breach so he leaves them to figure it out. Grace doesn’t want his help. Poor Henry.

They were about to ship Tiny off to NASA when they discovered a stowaway in one of his internal compartments. You got to be kidding me. It is Emo. Poor Lupo.

Seems they saved Emo just in time so he could go with Kevin on the camping trip. At the last minute Grant shows up to tag along. Andy is there to show Carter off but he seems lost in seventh heaven or so.

Off to the great outdoors. Seems Fargo might have a slightly different view of what to bring when he demonstrates the latest GD camping technology. A small cube deflates into a computerized tent called ‘Buffy’. Way to go Fargo! It even has a flatscreen and videogames. Kevin this is not camping. Carter makes them stow away all their remotes and high tech gadgets. You are going to thank me, we are going to camp the way camping is supposed to be camped.

After ten seconds Kevin starts to be bored and Carter starts to ask him about the stunt he was pulling with Emo. But he ends up leaving with Grant to learn to make fire since Carters rather unspecific way of asking comes across a bit embarrassing.

Meanwhile back in GD Larry, Fargo’s assistant almost gets his brain dissected while Alison examined him. Seems more and more computers act up. Jo Lupo brings Zane in to analyze what went wrong and he discovers an unauthorized subroutine. Andy calls about a situation back at a Carpe Diem. Virtual Vincent refuses to take any unhealthy orders. Jo is a bit upset for being called down for that but when she asks Andy starts with an ‘Ode to Jo’. Jo figures it out and asks Andy to come with her. That’s when we switch over to the other plot line of tonight’s show.

Henry is tinkering in his garage when Grace walks in and they continue their talk. I feel a role reversal here, maybe Grace is going to pine for her lost love now. My Henry is gone.

It is time for some male bonding in the woods. Grant and Carter almost starts to fight over Alison and Kevin takes off. It seems like Fargo’s tent have been infected too. First it feeds him vegetables then it traps him when he tries to leave.

Back at GD they discover all level six AI’s have been infected with the same foreign subroutine and they start to shut down all of them. Zane says he can fix it if he gets the original source code. The only AI they can’t shut down is Tiny, it is on its way to NASA already. S.A.R.A.H calls and asks about Andy making Jo realize that GD might not be the source. She, Zane and Andy goes there. S.A.R.A.H likes Andy so she decided to improve him to he could recipicate.

She slipped you an emo download, Dude. (Zane)

Tiny escaped and Jo gear up to hunt him. Alison is worried since Kevin is camping in the vicinities and they are not answering their cell phones. While miss ‘I never miss’ is out hunting for Tiny. Carter and Grant is out hunting for Kevin. They are quite confrontational about Alison when they walk into Kevin. He is not happy about Carter dating his mom. Grant is happy about that. Poor Carter.

They find Fargo wrapped in his tent back at the camp afraid for something moving in the forest. It is Tiny. Carter tries to talk to it. “I know we had our disagreements in the past, but we are all good?”. Tiny stand up, light his lights and rotate his hands in threat mode. They run. When Emo looks out of Kevin’s backpack, I start to get an Idea what Tiny is after. Carter tells the others to hide and run for it when he creates a diversion.

Tiny drill a hole in the tree beside him and they all run. The others make it to the car and drive off with Tiny on their tail. “Fargo where is Jack?” Kevin asks. Fargo turns the car around and passes Tiny on his way back. Fargo leans over and opens the door for Carter.

Come with me if you want to live

They call Alison who asks them to lead Tiny down the mountain so Lupo and her men can deal with it. But they arrive before they can deploy. At the last minute the robot catches Kevin under it’s grappler. The troops move in but they can’t shoot. “If she collapses, she will crush Kevin”. Carter saves Kevin’s life and figures out that the only thing Tiny wanted was Emo for company. He was afraid of being lonely on his six year mission to Titan. Poor Tiny.

I got to say that Fargo drives like James Bond.

Zane clean up the AIs but leave Andy’s emotions for S.A.R.A.H. He could always use a friend in law enforcement. Andy doing the walk of shame in front of Jo and Jack the morning after was nice.

There is a very emotional scene when Henry takes leave of Grace and promises to win her back.

Afterwards in Cafe Diem Carter admit to Kevin that he loves Alison and gets his blessing. He also tells Grant not to plan the wedding yet. Grant finishes with “May the best man win”. So guess what is going to happen next time?

This was a great episode. The buildup of  Carter and Grant’s rivalry over Alison is on even if it feels a bit juvenile. It is granted to be fun though. Henrik winning his wife again is also open but I fear Grace might have something else in mind. On the Jo Lupo and Zane front I don’t see any reaction from his side so far. What do you think?

Zoe returns to Eureka. That is good she was so fantastic last season and  I have missed her.

Last Week

On Eureka last week they had a race around the moon and Alison cheated on her son’s behalf but he saved the day.

This week started with a crossover event in Warehouse 13 – 13.1 where Fargo bonded with Claudia over an upgrade of the warehouse computer system. After a match with half a brain they saved the day together with Artie.

This Week

Claudia from Warehouse 13 comes to visit and Fargo goes over the top to make her feel welcome.

Meanwhile Henry and Grant test drive the reconfigured time bridge to no appearent effect. Grant is catching up on music history so it is all done to some groovy seventies music. Henry’s wife Dr Monroe starts to get suspicious and presses both Henry and Carter on what is wrong. Henry hasn’t done his husband duties in weeks.

I enjoyed Fargonator’s (Claudia’s name for him) stopping at nothing to make Claudia feel at home even as things start to go wrong. A forest appear at GD, a bullet with complete casing materializes inside Jo and a bomber air plane inside Carpe Diem. Hm wonder if this has anything to do with the time bridge? Yes of course it does and it centers on Grant. Is he going to die of it? No of course not, Grant and Alison reprogram his nicotine patch to remove the offending particles in time.

The sequence where Fargo and Claudia go off by themselves and end up in a minefield was quite enjoyable especially when they succeeded in delaying the first fuse so they could jump out of the way and Claudia lands on top of Fargo and kisses him just as we hear the click of another mine being armed. Luckily Sheriff Carter saves them. They look good together.

Talking about looking good together it seems like Grant’s advances on Alison isn’t unappreciated. I would also say that Jo doesn’t look bad on the sofa with Carter either. Time for a change maybe?

Last week

Peter and Myka infiltrated Fashion Week to find a sinister artifact that aged models in hours. When Myka is affected Claudia gets to play with a real huge needle in a suggestive way before they could sort it all out. Claudia went train wreck on her first date with Todd but Artie came to the rescue.

This week

What could go wrong with a computer upgrade in the Warehouse? You are correct, a lot. Fargo arrives on order of the scary lady. He and Claudia bond over gadgets and the it evolution while Artie fuss over every little change they make. Install completed, reboot. No luck there amigos and amigas, Failsafe Activated! Peculiar and sinister looking devices pop out of the floors while they are locked out of the system.

Mika and Pete chase off to fetch Hugo Miller, the retired inventor of the Warehouse system in the hope he could help. But he has gone bonkers and lives in a nearby sanatorium. After a somewhat amusing trip they bring him back.

Meanwhile Artie show Fagro and Claudia the computer lab where the AI resided. It uploads itself into the more modern diggs Fargo installed including some spiffy drones. The AI appears in holographic form as Hugo Miller in some time typical attire from the seventies. The computer declares a new safety protocol and starts to freeze down the Warehouse with its residents,

Claudia and Fargo go off to hunt the artifact Hugo used to create the AI while Artie goes off and challenge the computer at Battlecruiser. One of the coolest scenes in this episode is when Fargo and Claudia combine a laser pistol with Claudia’s extension ring when they are surrounded by drones. What they made? A Lightsaber! Swish swash, Fargo got one down and hand it over to Claudie who first cut off its legs and then impale the drone brrscreech. In a moment of euphoria they kiss. That’s when Claudia realizes she loves Todd and tells Fargo. Fargo had something else in mind.

Artie saves the day when he beats the computer by cheating. He realizes it is not an AI, it is the left half of Hugo’s mind that has been downloaded into the computer. He convinces it to let the real Hugo in. For a while it looks like the computer might win and download Hugo’s mind into the mainframe but our computer wiz locks him out and Artie reverse the process by spinning the artifact the other way.

In the end Hugo goes off to a new job at GD in Eureka while Claudia get shot down by Todd, bummer.

Friday

The Eureka crossover continues.

Eureka 4.05 – Crossing over (Syfy)
Claudia Donovan visits Eureka to see if Fargo’s promises of wondrous devices are true, but she finds herself in the middle of a mystery suitable for Warehouse 13 when objects begin to appear randomly around the town and GD, and it must be solved before there are deadly consequences.

Last Week

Last week was zombie apocalypse at GD when an experiment with nonlethal weapons went awry. Tess discovered what was going on with Carter and Alison and left. The acting was beautiful with all the restrained and unrestrained rage.

This Week

Carter goes off to visit Zoe in Harvard while Eureka celebrates Space Week – or the unlikely story that made Jo Lupo move in with Carter.

While Sheriff Carter rebound with Zoe over an invisible cat and the usual parental platitudes the youngsters in Eureka race to the moon. Alison’s son Kevin is one of the contesters in the race.

They even get a visit from the General in charge of Eureka. A Doctor Ramsey uncovers his plans for a Mars colony. He has invented a way to oxygenate the colony without a dome. The substance for doing this is central for the story thus the name; O is the scientific abbreviation of oxygen.

There was a Star Wars moment there when Zane arrived on his rather spectacular flyingbike. The General isn’t happy to see him to begin with so that when Zane returns and crashes the bike into the general’s car apparently intoxicated the general demand that he be deported away into prison again. Jo Lupo stands up for him to give him ‘due process’.

Eventually they start to put things together. Ramsey’s invention has been stolen from the lab; Deputy Andy catch fire at the launch site (funny btw); One of the rockets are using it for fuel; the changed EM field hit right on the frequency needed to activate the oxygen production and propagation of Ramsey’s invention which I assume is some kind of nano technology.

As Kevin’s rocket is in the lead he becomes their prime suspect but the unlikely culprit is Alison. She did it to ‘help’ her son win, the test burns didn’t go so well. Her care for her son is taking on absurd proportions, she used to be a responsible head of GD and now she steals a potentially dangerous invention to help her son win a race? The explanation is that the difference between autistic Kevin and this independent one was so big and she was only trying to reconnect?

They are not out of the woods yet, the returning rockets have crossed behind the moon and are now returning to earth and their engines will set off a fire that will destroy the town. The rockets are destroyed using their self destruct mechanism, save one built by Fargo’s obnoxious assistant who ‘saved weight’.

Now they have to lower the oxygen content somehow before the rocket strikes. All the scientists at GD fails but Kevin comes up with the solution, turn it into water (H2o). Alison and Grant rush off to help him as he releases balloons. Kevin and Alison trigger the release together causing a massive fire in the upper atmosphere before it is extinguished by rain. It is a cute little family outing there.

Don’t forget the lone returning rocket. It is slightly off course and hits a residential area, namely Miss Lupo’s house. Sheriff Carter returns to find Jo homeless crashing in his jail so he offer her to stay with him and S.a.r.a.h. That is how Jo Lupo came to move in with Sheriff Carter.

It should be noted that this episode was directed by Colin Ferguson (Sheriff Jack Carter).

Said and done

• You are too irritating to be boring (Jo)
• They had to increase the EM shield, because last year the Nort-Koreans though they launched a missile attack.

Next Week

We have a cross-over event with Warehouse 13 next week, maybe not the last this season according to rumors from Comic Con.

Tuesday, August 3

Warehouse 13 2.05 – 13.1 (Syfy).
Douglas Fargo (Neil Grayston) of Eureka’s Global Dynamics is sent to Warehouse 13 to help update its aging computer system. This triggers a seemingly sentient computer virus that sends the Warehouse into lockdown and traps the team inside.

So they returned from 1947 to a changed Eureka and they brought Dr Grant with them. It is not the first time they used time travel in Eureka, Henrik used it to try to save his dead fiancée and Carter had a day repeating itself in a time loop if I remember correctly but this is a real game changer and it seems like the changes might be with us for a while at least, if not permanently.

This episode explore the changes that this timeline has for the time travelers. Some are entertaining like Tess saying yes to that ‘thing’ and Carter has to figure out what it is since he has no clue what he asked; the same with Jo thinking she is out of a job with robot deputy Andy on her old spot. The maybe greatest change is Kevin being normal, he was autistic in our ‘timeline’. To say Alison is delighted is an understatement. Jo is not happy with the-love-of-her-life a jailbird she hasn’t ever dated.

What scare me most is Fargo in charge of GD …

With all the changes it is good to see one thing that has not changed is the runaway scientific experiments. A giant robot ant goes amok on main street and the usual detective work proceeds, now with robot Andy as Carters deputy. No offence Andy but that is a downer if it means less Jo.

It turns out Dr Grant is not exactly innocent, seems he re-tuned the device so he could explore the future. That Grant would have stranded Carter in the past if Alison and Carter hadn’t found their own way to travel is a necessary sacrifice science has to do. He is going to be a lot of trouble down the line.

In the end the time bridge is destroyed and they are stranded in this timeline. They decide to keep secret that they are time travelers because according to Alison there is a government protocol in place that would mean their death if they where found out.

I love this show but I am a bit undecided about this change, much depends on how this pans out. Some of the travelers might want to get back to their original lives while some definitely would choose to stay here like Alison. This episode was a fast paced, witty game changer. I for one is interested in where it takes our favorite characters.

Eureka returns next week with episode 4.03 – All the Rage. Wil Wheaton guest stars as Dr. Isaac Parrish, an underappreciated scientist whose hostility appears to have gone viral. Blind rage is infecting everyone at Global Dynamics with potentially catastrophic results—especially for Fargo.

Be afraid be very afraid …

Carter and the quirky town of Eureka is back for twenty new episodes. The Premiere takes us and the main cast back to the Founders Day and introduces Doctor Trevor Grant, the founder of Eureka all in a funny imaginative way as we have come to expect of this show. Lots of changes this year folks, here is my take on the premiere.

• Zoe is gone to university, bummer.
• Tess went to Australia and she just called to break up with Carter.

The Plot

The town is preparing for founders day. Tess has broken up with Carter. Jo-Jo gets a marriage proposal but it doesn’t go as planned. Carter is out running and takes a call when time changes, he gets a lift into town with Doctor Trevor Grant, the founder of Eureka and is delighted with all the effort the town put into Founders day, until he is arrested and realizes he is not in Texas anymore.  Alison dressed as a nurse helps him escape. It seems like the rest of the main cast has been transported to 1947. They land in the middle of cold war nostalgia.

They soon figure out that the phone calls channeled the shift and that machine on main street in combination with solar flares did the rest (what is it with solar flares and time travel, Stargate SG-1 used that too?). Jo is a delightfully forceful bad-ass when she tries to escape as a biker chick before being put into the arrest with naked man Fargo (putting her in the same cell as man seemed a bit off). Henrik is hiding in plain sight as a mechanics. Doctor Trevor Grant is quite flirty with Alison even before he realizes they are all from the future and he decides to help them. Jo and Fargo getting out of jail was a wonderful scene, especially when Fargo had to pee on the magnesium fire to make it hotter. My hero, Fargo decided to take one for the team. Henrik and Grant figure out a way for them to get back, they just have to avoid capture long enough for them to finish. Carter and Alison hide at the dance when he realizes he doesn’t have his phone, he left it in his jacket with Grant. Alison doesn’t want to leave him stranded there so they hold hands before Carter decides to kiss her, something she tanks him for after they return.

Pop, they are back but things have changed. Henry is married, Kevin is normal, Carter is living with Tess but Zoe is still at Harvard and the last scene shows Dr Grant asking for Alison at Carpe Diem …

Characterization

They had the fifties down pat with the smoking and the attitude, very Bogart of them. Trevor Grant is a nice addition to the cast, he was wonderful in BSG and so far he looks solid in Eureka too. I hope they don’t just send him back next episode.

I wonder if Alison is married too, maybe we will see another comeback (besides Tess)? With Carter and Alison rekindling their on/off relationship with that kiss and Trevor Grant obviously pursuing Alison we could have a five-way love triangle/pentagram here.

We didn’t get to see much of Henrik’s wife/love interest this episode so I don’t have any opinion on her yet.

My View

I am happy to have some light, funny and warmhearted science fiction entertainment again with all the darkness and horror around. Eureka’s premiere promises we are in for an entertaining 20 episodes season and I am sure there are surprises to come, but the changed timeline has potential for a season long arc. We will probably see some sort of indication of the length of this arc in next episode.

Eureka, my favorite quirky little town is back on this Friday (July 9) with season 4. They got some exiting new twists, a brand new cast member and a great line up of new and returning guest stars. Fans and newcomers won’t want to miss this game-changing season when BIG changes alter everyone’s lives after a cataclysmic time shift turns their world upside down. BSG’s Dr. Gaius Baltar (James Callis) joins the cast as physicist “Dr. Grant,” a former Eurekan whose very unexpected return is cause for great concern, and the reasons as to when and why he originally left Eureka are shrouded in mystery and secrecy. His arrival also causes considerable friction for Sheriff Carter considering Grant’s romantic interest in Allison.

Look at the picture James/Gaius does his TM hand rest. The others look like they are on safari in Africa and something turned up.

There will be a Warehouse 13 – Eureka cross over this season August 3 and August 6.

Warehouse 13 – 13.1 – Tuesday, August 3. Douglas Fargo (Neil Grayston) of Eureka’s Global Dynamics is sent to Warehouse 13 to help update its aging computer system. This triggers a seemingly sentient computer virus that sends the Warehouse into lockdown and traps the team inside.

Episode 4.05 – Crossing Over – Friday August 6. Warehouse 13’s Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) pays a visit to Eureka, hoping to see some amazing technological wonders. She gets more than she bargained for when seemingly random objects begin appearing around town. Working with Sheriff Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Fargo, Claudia has to help solve the mystery before the strange anomalies have deadly consequences…particularly for newcomer Dr. Grant (James Callis). Rene Auberjonois (Boston Legal, Star Trek: DS 9) will guest star in the Warehouse 13 episode as former Warehouse agent Hugo Miller.

New Series

Haven – Series Premiere (Syfy). I might be too scared to watch this. I loved most of the Movies and TV miniseries made of Kings works. The promos are thin in content but makes me want to watch.

Syfy’s all-new one-hour drama series Haven, starring Emily Rose (Jericho, Brothers and Sisters) is based on the novella The Colorado Kid from renowned author Stephen King. The series follows the shrewd and confident FBI agent Audrey Parker (Rose) who has a lost past, and arrives in the small town of Haven, Maine on a routine case. Before long, her natural curiosity lands her in the epicenter of activity in this curious enclave, which turns out to be a longtime refuge for people that are affected by a range of supernatural afflictions.

As the townspeople’s dormant abilities begin to express themselves, Audrey helps keep these forces at bay while discovering the many secrets of Haven — including one surrounding her own surprising connections to this extraordinary place.

Covert Affairs - Series Premiere (USA) Tuesday July 13.

Good with some light summer entertainment, Mr Jake 2.0 is in it too beside Piper Perabo who I liked since Coyote Ugly in 2000. CSI-SciFi expected.

In COVERT AFFAIRS, USA’s newest original series, we meet Annie Walker (Piper Perabo), a young CIA trainee who is suddenly thrust into the inner sanctum of the agency after being promoted to field operative. While it appears that she has been hand-picked for her exceptional linguistic skills, it may be something from her past that her CIA bosses are really after. Christopher Gorham plays Auggie Anderson, a CIA military intelligence agent, blinded while on assignment, and Annie’s guide in this world of bureaucracy, excitement and intrigue.

Peter Gallagher is Arthur Campbell, the formidable director of Clandestine Services for the CIA. Sendhil Ramamurthy plays Jai Wilcox, an agent with a rich family history within the walls of the CIA. Anne Dudek plays Danielle, a married mother of two and Annie’s older sister who knows nothing of Annie’s life as a spy. Kari Matchett plays Joan, head of the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division…and Arthur’s wife.

Rizzoli & Isles –  Series Premiere (TNT) July 12. This is a series I hope work out, I like the synopsis.

RIZZOLI & ISLES follows Boston detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) and medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), complete opposites and good friends who solve crimes and bust some of Boston’s most notorious criminals. Growing up at opposite ends of the economic spectrum, the two remain strikingly different from one another in many ways. Jane, the only female detective in Boston’s homicide division, is a tough and gutsy cop who doesn’t let her guard down (except with Maura), dodges her overprotective mother and is better at basketball than her brother. Maura, meanwhile, is usually more comfortable among the dead than the living. She is always impeccably dressed in designer duds with a steady, sometimes icy temperament. And she is working on curbing her tendency to diagnose the people she meets – including her first dates. Jane and Maura often find themselves working together as both use their brilliant minds and expertise to figure out the “who done it” as well as the “how done it” of Boston’s most complex cases.

Despite their many differences, Jane and Maura are best friends, with a quirky and supportive relationship. As Tamaro explains, “That Jane and Maura are so different and yet so effective as a team makes them unusual.… There’s something rare about their relationship that I see in the world but not enough on television: two smart, strong, competent women who instinctively drop the protective shield when they’re with each other.”

Returning series

Warehouse 13  - Season 2 premiere (Syfy) July 6. Peter, Myka, Artie and Claudia is back to retrieve quirky fantastic artifacts for the  big warehouse. The first season ended in a pickle we should see resolved this season. The first episode is named Pisa.

Secret Service agents Pete Lattimer and Myka Bering are appointed to a secret storage facility housing unusual artifacts in South Dakota after saving the life of the President. The agents are responsible for tracking down missing objects from all areas of the country, as well as monitoring for supernatural activity that might hint at the presence of a new object that they must acquire

Eureka – Season 4 premiere (Syfy) July 9. I love Jack Carter and the quirky town of Eureka.

Small town. Big secret. A car accident leads U.S. Marshal Jack Carter into the top-secret Pacific Northwest town of Eureka. For decades, the United States government has relocated the world’s geniuses to Eureka, a town where innovation and chaos have lived hand in hand.

Episode one is Founder’s Day - The 60th anniversary of Eureka becomes life-changing in more ways than one when a marriage proposal is eclipsed by a mysterious transport to a military site and a new face in the crowd.

The Closer – Season 6 premiere (TNT) July 12. Brenda is one of my favorites cops on TV.

“They’ll bring you in. She’ll make you talk.” Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) is a police detective who transfers from Atlanta to Los Angeles to head up a special unit of the LAPD that handles sensitive, high-profile murder cases. Despite a tendency to step on people’s toes, Johnson manages to convert even her strongest adversaries with her unique ability to get to the truth

First episode: The Big Bang – The investigation into the murder a man who loved to take pictures of celebrities from the privacy of his own balcony, Brenda & the squad think their maybe a connection close to the woman who was having an affair with him. There is one problem Brenda might not have anticipated a missing murder weapon and moving into a new office.

White Collar – Season 2 premiere (USA) July 13. Another delightful con man is back.

It is about a convicted white collar criminal who winds up working for the FBI man who caught him. To stay out of prison, convicted bond forger Neal Caffrey offers to help the FBI capture other white collar criminals using his expertise as an art and securities thief, counterfeiter and racketeer.

First episode is Withdrawal – Neal helps the FBI foil a chain of high end bank robberies.

Psych – Season 5 premiere (USA) July 14.

Fake Psychic. Real Detectives. Shawn Spencer has developed a keen eye for detail after being instructed by his police officer father to note even the most minute details of his surroundings. After conning the police into believing that he’s a psychic, Shawn opens a detective agency with best friend Burton Guster

First episode is Romeo and Juliet and Juliet – When the daughter of a Chinese Triad family disappears, Shawn and Gus take on the case.

White Collar

Marisol Nichols (24, In Justice, Blind Justice) has been cast and is believed to be playing Nick’s wife, Sarah who relocates to the community looking for a fresh start not expecting anything out of the ordinary. Chief of Police Nick Monohan is played by Frank Grillo (Blind Justice, Prison Break). Is it only I that see the resemblance to sheriff Carter in Eureka? I love that show and it might be wishful thinking seeing this as some kind of supernatural Eureka?

I also imagine his family and kids having trouble fitting in at first. Travis Caldwell (Lately from Parenthood) play their teen son Charlie who quickly falls for a local girl Andie Bates played by Skyler Samuels (most famous for playing the snob on shows such as That So Raven, Wizards of Waverly Place and Drake and Josh). I wonder what kind of supernatural she is? A normal American teenager landing in a supernatural community can have all kinds of wonderful and entertaining plot possibilities. Andie’s boyfriend is a star linebacker for the football team who also happens to be a werewolf. Colton Haynes plays the bundle-of-joy-for-Charlie boyfriend Brett Crezski. I am pretty sure there is a jocks versus Charlie senario coming up. Justin Miles is on board as Brett’s best-friend Lukas Ford, a surfer dude who likewise is a werewolf.

We  also have some interesting drama with the sexy beautiful proprietors of the towns two competing exotic-slash-magical tea shops. Peg Mueller who is believed to be played by Victoria Platt (she is known for Guiding Light, but she also played a uncredited brothel madam in the soon to be premiered supernatural western Jonah Hex) is the owner of the original shop but now her less-than-scrupulous pupil Devon played by Chandra West (She recently played Maggie Vega on my favorite non SciFi show Castle) sets up her own shop across the street.

Other members of the cast include:

Luke Mably (The Prince and Me) as Dylan Radcliff the mysterious owner of a bio-tech company. Am I wrong if I sense a villain here? Did I mention he’s a vampire?

His wife Claire is played by Rhona Mitra (SGU, Nip/Tuck, Boston Legal, The Practice) a vampire housewife not as keen on assimilating as her husband. I love her acting since The Practice. She is so hot.

Janina Gavankar (The L Word) plays Leigh Turnera, a “sexy and cool” cop that works for Nick.

The pilot expected to air this summer will be directed by Terry McDonough (“Breaking Bad”). Grant Scharbo and Richard Hatem co-wrote the pilot and are executive producing alongside Gina Matthews. Filming is set to begin in late March in Louisiana which should be about now. I expect the first photos to be out soon.

I must say I really look forward to this show, way to go ABC.

2009 have been a year of ups and downs when it comes to TV. These have been my favorite TV past times this year. When it comes to TV I am more of an omnivore than with books.

1. True Blood
   Southern Vampires on the screen with extra spices added to make it the best tv show of the year. It is steamy, it is intense and oh so captivating. Twelve episodes is just too short, give us more Sookie!
2. Castle
   Castle is the best new TV serie of 2009. Nathan Fillion could play anything this year and still succed. Richard Castle the Crime writer fits him perfectly. The beautiful Stana Katic plays detective Kate Becket the inspiration for Richard newest hero Nicky Heat. Nice action, good pace, snappy dialogue, wonderful actors and more. Currently airing its second season and renewed for a third.
3. Fringe
   Season two focuses on the alternative universe threat. FBI agent Olvia Dunham and Peter Bishop continues their caretake of Peters enstranged father Dr Walter Bishop.  A fantastic season.
   
4. Stargate Universe
   The starship Destiny was launched by the Ancient to visit new galaxies. The research facility where the 9th cheveron’s secret is being studied is attacked and the people there have to flee using the stargate. They end up on Destiny, billions of light years from home with no way back. They are not made for this, they didn’t sign up for this. So far it has been an interesting tale about survival. The series is Currently in hiatus. Renewed for a second season by Syfy
5. Being Human
   Werewolves are despised by Vampires. But Mitchell, a vampire and George Sands, a werewolf become friends and decide to mainstream their lives being human. So they rent a house and move in. Unknown to them the house is already inhabited by Annie – a ghost. Second season will air in January 2010.
6. Eureka
   Sheriff Carter and the goofy, charmingly inventive town of Eureka makes me happy to watch. This season begins with a robot replacement for Carter, which doesn’t work out. The outer-space-invaders arc with the mind-controlled towns people was a delight. Pity Zoe left for college in the last episode, hope she’ll be back for summer.
   
7. Supernatural
   It is the end of the world, the Apocalypse is upon us, and Paris Hilton gets her head chopped off, and Sam and Dean are back together, and Lucifer is in comparison a nice guy. They planed Supernatural for an arc of five season, this is the fifth season – is it the end of the show? I hope not! It is better than ever!
   
8. Royal Pains
   When Hank is blacklisted for saving a little boy’s life instead of an important trustee and his fiancee leaves him, his unreliable little brother decides a trip to the Hamptons might be the right medicine. Hank quickly makes himself a name as a go to doctor, and the grapevine for the rich and famous there is lightning, and they all call Hank now when ill. A beautiful local MD catches his intrest so he let his brother convince him to stay. Royal Pains is a really likable feel-good series. 
   
9. White Collar
   Fresh new series about a conman Neal Caffrey blackmailed into working with the FBI. His handler is FBI Agent Peter Burke. That they brought in Wendy (Natalie Morales II)  from the Middleman was just icing on the cake. It Has just been renewed for a second season.
   
10. Warehouse 13
    Great fantasy series with the most exquisite steampunky gadgets ever. Beautiful and talented cast especially the addition of Claudia.

Special mention to SyFy channels Alice. I should also mention that I save V for when the hiatus is over. Dollhouse did catch my interest at the end but it didn’t make the list, sorry Joss. We had a few good comedy shows this year worth mentioning, Better off Ted, Cougar Town, The Big Bang Theory.

Other good shows not on the list this year: House, Legend of the Seeker, Merlin, Lie to Me, Sons of Anarchy, Trauma.

Now that I am back from England, I have had time to catch up on some TV.

Eureka’s 3rd season has now started up after hiatus.

309 Welcome Back, Carter
Carter get replaced by a robot, And someone tries to kill the robot.

310 Your Face or Mine
Lupo act as sheriff as carter takes a 48 hour exam and she gets her identity stolen.

311 Insane in the P-Brane
Carter meets new hot Seti babe and they get transported into the 5th dimension.

The theme of the 3rd season seems to be the ET signal they seems to be receiving from somewhere outside the solar system.
