This is a more normal week but still few genre shows Chuck, The Big Bang Theory and Caprica since I am not into Lost.

Sons of Tuscon premieres, Castle is back from hiatus. Season finales from  Psych, White Collar and Numb3rs (Series finale?).

Sons of Tuscon 1.01 – Pilot (FOX) Series Premiere

This is a new comedy and I will wait until a few episodes to say anything. Unless it totally rocks my world.

Sunday 14

In the tradition of “Malcolm in the Middle” and “The Bernie Mac Show,” SONS OF TUCSON is a family comedy about three brothers who hire a charming, wayward schemer to stand in as their father when their real one goes to prison. What begins as a business relationship evolves into something more complex and compelling: a family unlike any we’ve ever seen.

The three brothers find their dad-for-hire, Ron Snuffkin (Tyler Labine, “Reaper”), at the local sporting good store. Ron will be forced to draw on a wide array of skills and a vast bag of tricks as he steps into the patriarch role to take care of the boys of the Gunderson family.

Robby Gunderson (Davis Cleveland, “How I Met Your Mother”), 8, is a loose cannon who doesn’t respond well to authority;

Gary Gunderson (Frank Dolce, “Doubt”), 11, is a bright and street-savvy leader who is every bit the con man his father is;

Brandon Gunderson (Troy Gentile, “Entourage”), 13, is a gentle free spirit who simply goes along for the ride.

Maggie Morales (Natalie Martinez, “Saints & Sinners”), Robby’s second-grade teacher and the object of Ron’s affection, might just be the only stable figure in the lives of this quirky quartet.

While SONS OF TUCSON is grounded in the day-to-day challenges of a single-parent home, nothing in the Gunderson household is quite what it seems. An ongoing chess match between Ron and the boys will keep both parties on their toes, as neither side can afford to give up too much power or independence.

Pilot: When the Gunderson boys Brandon, Gary and Robby hire Ron Snuffkin to pretend to be their father after their real father goes to prison, they find out that there’s more to their “fake” dad than meets the eye. Ron has to enroll them in school, convince Robby’s teacher to keep him in her class, sweet-talk the principal, locate mint-condition toy soldiers at his grandmother’s house and avoid a thug who wants his money.

House 6.05 – Private Lives (FOX) returns from hiatus

Monday 8th

House (Hugh Laurie) and the team take on the case of an avid blogger (guest star Laura Prepon, “That ‘70s Show”) admitted with sudden bruising and bleeding. From her hospital bed, the patient blogs about her symptoms, doctors and prospective diagnoses to her dedicated band of followers and solicits their advice on a course of treatment. Such openness leads the team to contemplate the value of privacy, especially after House and Wilson uncover secrets from one another’s past.

Gossip Girl 3.13 – The Hurt Locket (The CW) returning from hiatus

Monday 8th

Nate and Serena decide to explore the boundaries of their friendship. Blair suspects that Chuck is having problems forgetting about the woman (guest star Laura Harring) he saw at his father’s grave. Jenny agrees to accompany Damien (guest star Kevin Zegers) to a State Dinner but is unaware that he needs her help with a drug exchange. Vanessa and Dan attempt to move past the awkwardness of Dan’s confession of love. Rufus returns from a ski trip and tries his best to avoid Lily.

Castle 2.06 – The Mistress Always Spank Twice (ABC) returning from hiatus

Monday 8th

This is a show that keeps getting better and better and now its back with another saucy episode.

When a half-naked woman is found covered in caramel sauce and hanging by bondage cuffs in a public park, Castle and Beckett’s investigation takes them into New York’s underground world of sexual domination. Naturally the case serves as sexy fodder for their already charged relationship banter

Returning and New TV shows this week. It’s quite a few of my favorites returning this week.

Chuck is back with season three
(Sunday 10th, Monday 11th)

Chuck our favorite Buy-More Spy knows Kung-Fu and much more since he downloaded Intersect 2.0. It’s said to be a bit glitchy though. Rumors for the new season says a minor character will be killed off. Awesome will be more involved. Sadly to say they also says that  Chuck and Sarah will have a major falling out.

A two hour premier on sunday, Chuck goes on to it’s regular time slot on Monday.

Archer – New Animated Spy Comedy
(Thursday 14th)

From SciWire:
Looks like Chuck will have some company in the spy biz. This animated half-hour comedy focuses on master spy Sterling Archer (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) and the spy gang at the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS). Even though there’s enough espionage and global crises to keep the team busy, they still manage time for a bit of backbiting and betrayal among themselves. Also providing voices are Jessica Walter, Aisha Tyler, George Coe, Chris Parnell and Judy Greer. Brought to us from the creators of Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo, Adam Reed and Matt Thompson

Human Target
(Sunday 17th)

From TV.com:
Christopher Chance is the mysterious security-for-hire protecting his clients by becoming the Human target. Christopher Chance is assisted by his business partner Winston and hired gun Guerrero in each job. Chance learns the truth behind his dark past.

Does anyone know who Christopher Chance really is? What secrets lay buried in his past? What would make a man willingly become a Human Target?

Being Human season two
Sunday 10th

This Brilliant BBC production returns for a second season. Love it.

Mitchell (Turner) and George (Tovey) are two twenty-somethings who move into a house together only to find it already occupied by Annie (Crichlow). Finding a ghost in their home isn’t too bad though, since Mitchell is a vampire and George is a werewolf. The show charts the trio’s life as they try Being Human.

In my opinion a good season finale should have one part closure so that there is a feeling of accomplishment. The main villain should be defeated if possible and new threats should be hinted at. There should also be suspense, hints of things to come and questions that makes you want to wait on the next season.

Being Human [*****]
This is a good season finale with a victory over the villain and enough hints on what will go down in the next season. It felt so good when George and especially Annie kicked Vampire ass. I love that cast.

Bones [***]
This crossover cartoon thing was not my favorite. The episode was not a total loss though it felt a little like a series finale, with all the actors getting together.

Dollhouse [****]
This is a nice season finale, some closure and some interesting new doors opening for the next season. Alpha going down was a significant victory.

Fringe [*****]
Another good season final. The World Trade Center cityscape at the end was worth a 5 by itself.

Grey’s Anatomy [*****]
Episode 22 was a good season ending. The Final Episodes were better. Izzie’s cancer friend was a really good resurface of a familiar face from Gilmore Girls. George joins the Army, get mauled by a bus and keeps coding on the table at the end of the season, and will be leaving the show according to E! Meredith’s and Derek’s ceremony were very emotional. Izzy was also coding and will be back according to recent rumors.

Kings [****] Series Finale
The uprising and the movers behind it creates a lot of openings for intrigue and David Shepherd’s (the hero) trust in King Silas and his unlucky love affair with Princess Michelle is in a way a good final episode. That said, Kings deserve not to be ended, but it is ended.

NCIS [****]
This is a really good season finale, with a nice cliffhanger in the best tradition of NCIS. It is not a 5/5 because they didn’t really work on a criminal case. Ziba in that chair in the final scene really makes me want the next season now.

Private Practice [**]
Why? Why do they have to make a season finale for Criminal Minds? It is a total break with the usual ambiance. At the start of the season I just loved the show, now my interest is lowest???

The Mentalist [****]
The Red John season finale was awesome, and he is still out there for the next season.

The Unit [****]
Stopping a nuke is good enough closure in my opinion, finding out who was behind it all was also good.

I still have some series to watch from this winter:

  • Battlestar Galactica (series finale)
  • Dexter
  • Pushing Daisies (series finale)
  • The Beast (series finale)
  • My Own Worst Enemy (series finale)
  • Kyle XY (series finale)
  • Gossip Girl
  • Legend of the Seeker
  • Reaper (series finale)
  • Smallville
  • Supernatural
  • Terminator: SCC (series finale)

That’s quite a few that I will add as soon as I watched them.
