Weekly Journal August 8-14 2011

It has been easy to get up and go to work this week. Vacation has really been good to me. I am more relaxed than I have been in a long time. That is going to be useful in the coming months as we have a lot to do.

Book of the week was really hard so there is a shared first place. Germline is a dark realistic military science fiction that takes place in the near future where nations fight over metal. T. C. McCarthy‘s debut is fantastic. Final Days is not a debut but it is the first book in the series. It takes place further into the future and deal with a time loop where Earth is destroyed. Great science fiction and characters but I didn’t expect anything less from Gary Gibson.

On Monday it is time to take a look at September’s upcoming releases.
