Weekly Journal August 9-15

I had a good if somewhat hectic week. I only read one book but it was a mighty good one, The Black Lung Captain is almost better than Retribution Falls. Chris Wooding is awesome.

Yesterday I made my preparations for September and ordered my books. Check out New Science Fiction Books in September 2010 for details.

I was a little short on time so there is no Female Protagonists on SciFi TV this week, sorry. There will be next week.

Notable posts this week

There has been some book news this week. David Weber is writing a New Honorverse YA Novel based on “A Beautiful Friendship” and one of my most anticipated books this year CryoBurn Release Date Shifted to October 19th will be released a month early! That is the new Miles Vorkosigan novel by Lois McMaster Bujold in case you missed it.

I also made an External Review of Earth Strike by Ian Douglas on TLR

I am planing to have a look at the upcoming Fall season the coming weeks. This weeks post is about Lost Girl a new sexy supernatural drama that premieres September 5. The Event was my first post out but you can count on posts about all new genre shows or seasons.

Development wise I added Syfy channels development slate, a new Zombies vs. Vampires script from NBC and some new casting to SFF Pilot Watch.

I keep When is my favorite show coming back? updated with premieres and finales for all my favorite shows.

Formidable Female Protagonists in Science Fiction this week

Formidable Female Protagonists in Science Fiction Part 18I prefer female protagonists and this series of posts is homage to some of the most formidable female main characters in science fiction novels or series. Jez is know to me at least but the others look promising especially Lore.

  2. Sarah – Cyborized Gun-for-hire (Walter Jon Williams)
  3. Teela Brown – Born Lucky (Larry Niven)
  4. Lore Van de Oest – Playing Spanner’s Game (Nicola Griffith)
