Weekly Journal May 2-8 2011

Yesterday we had the first leafs of the year and the lawns are turning from brown to green, it is Spring. Though the week had a few nights with below zero. It is good to be alive when the light returns. As my German woman told me in mocking wonder, it is even daylight outside for dinner. We had a buzzy week with lots of interesting visitors from Stockholm and other foreign countries. Fun but a lot of meeting time…

Genre wise I was blown away by Fringe’s finale. Oh no they didn’t! That is going to be interesting to sort out next season. I wonder if they did a budget cut there or if that character returns? What do you think?

Stargate Universe is up next with a series finale. Shame on you Syfy for canceling that show when it got good!

Remember that the networks’ upfronts are only a week away. If it is like last year we will get some early renewals this week. You might want to check out The New TV Season for SciFi Fans [Summer 2011] for some summer viewing.

Reading wise I enjoyed the second Traitor spy trilogy The Rogue by Trudi Canavan the most. Those characters are really engaging. Embassytown by China Miéville was also good but suffered from a slow start.

That was all for this week, keep making suggestions for books to read.
