Weekly Journal October 3 – 9 2011

Into the Hinterlands was a somewhat enjoyable read but not on par with David Drake’s RCN series. It has a novel take on faster than light travel involving muscle power and pedaling.

Initiate was also a good read but annoyed the hell out of me by ending abruptly in the middle of the story. Buy the two first books and hope the author doesn’t do that again or skip it is my recommendation. I will not buy the second book because I don’t want to reward that kind of behavior although I got the first for free. Pity since the story was kind of interesting about a young girl coming into her powers.

I enjoyed Warehouse 13‘s Summer finale on Monday. The thing with the regents came to a final confrontation and left the usual cliffhanger.

American Horror Story premiered this week. Horror is not my thing but I decided to give it a try. The dysfunctional family moving into the old haunted mansion is a staple in the genre and this one was not very original and even though I like a sexy maid outfit it is not enough to keep me watching. I think I will give it a pass.

Sanctuary‘s premiere on Friday was something I was looking forward to and I was not disappointed. Magnus jumped back to the time of Jack the Ripper trying to stop Adam Worth from changing the timeline. It had many interesting tidbits of back story.
